Autoplay isn't skipping watched videos
SkipSeen only skips in specific situations on purpose. Check these:
- Open the SkipSeen popup and make sure the toggle is on.
- It only skips when autoplay moves on by itself after a video ends. If you click a video yourself, it plays — even if you've seen it.
- Inside a playlist you picked, skipping is off by default (Mixes are still skipped). Turn on “Skip inside playlists” in settings to change that.
- The channel might be on your Never skip these channels list in settings.
- You may not have watched enough of it yet. By default a video counts as watched at 30%; you can change that in settings.
- After five skips in a row, SkipSeen lets the next video play rather than skipping forever.
- It runs on youtube.com in your desktop browser. If you just installed it, reload any YouTube tabs that were already open.
The how it works page lists every check in the order SkipSeen runs them. If YouTube's own autoplay isn't moving on to the next video at all, SkipSeen has nothing to act on: see YouTube autoplay not working.
How does SkipSeen decide a video is “watched”?
A video counts as watched once you've seen 30% of it — adjustable from 10% to 100% in settings. SkipSeen tracks your progress on videos you watch, and it also reads the red progress bars YouTube shows on thumbnails, so videos you watched before installing are picked up as you browse. After that, autoplay skips past them automatically.
Which browsers does it work in?
Desktop Chrome and Firefox, plus Chromium browsers such as Edge and Brave that install from the Chrome Web Store. It can't run in the YouTube mobile or TV apps, because those don't support extensions.
How do I stop a channel from being skipped?
While you're watching a video from that channel, open the SkipSeen popup and press Never skip. You can also search for a channel under “Never skip these channels” in settings, and remove it from that list any time. SkipSeen keeps recording what you watch there, so removing the channel later picks up where it left off.
Can I use it with other YouTube extensions?
Yes. SkipSeen only acts when autoplay moves to the next video, so it works alongside extensions that hide watched videos in your feeds. An extension that turns autoplay off leaves SkipSeen nothing to skip. The comparison page covers the common ones.
Can I start over?
Yes. Open the popup and click Clear history to wipe your watched-video list and begin fresh.
Where is my data stored?
Entirely on your own device, in your browser's local extension storage. Nothing is uploaded, and there's no account. See the privacy policy for exactly what's kept.
